The area where all of your toes connect & what is placed on the GripTapeTutor reference line for each of the 5 foundational tricks
• Goofy - Being a Right Foot-Forward Skater • Regular - Being a Left Foot-Forward Skater
• Nollie - Face the same direction as your Ollie, but move to the nose of the board and use the foot in front to kick the nose down
• Fakie - Same foot positioning as your Ollie, but roll the opposite direction
• Switch - Riding the opposite direction that you originally learned • Pushing - Turning your front foot forward while pushing with your back foot
• Stopping - Jumping off your deck... Placing your back foot flat on ground... or Lifting the front of the skateboard while dragging your back foot's heel
Power Slide - Coolest way to stop!
• Tic-Tacs - Gaining speed without pushing, by lifting the front trucks back and forth • Manual - Balancing on your back two wheels • Nose Manual - Balancing on your front two wheels • Primo -or- Rail Stand - Landing on the side of your skateboard while balancing on 2 of the 4 wheels • Carving - Turning without lifting any wheels by leanring toe/heelside • Front Side - Leaning heel side, or having the front of your chest face the obstacle • Back Side - Leaning toe side, or having your back face the obstacle • Unweighting - Hopping up just enough to give the skateboard room to hit and hop over a tiny obstacle • Dropping In - Standing on the edge of a quarter-pipe, half-pipe, ledge, ramp, or any other feature with the back tail of your skateboard... then skating down into it!
• Wheel-Bite - When your wheels rub against your deck. Loose trucks? Fat Kid? Get Risers!
• Skitch - Like "hitch hiking" a ride...accept your holding onto the car while standing on your skateboard
(TIP)
For immediate speed, run while holding the board in your hand next to you. When the time is right, carefully drop it while simultaneously jumping onto it.
Skateboard Parts:
Deck - The concave piece of wood that you stand on. (Don't get it wet)
Nose - The wider/larger of the two ends
Tail - The smaller of the two ends that belongs under your back foot
Grip Tape - The sand paper like surface that is applied to your skateboard deck
Trucks - The "Hips" to your skateboard that your wheels and deck are attached to. Use them to 50-50 Grind!
KingPin - Already part of your trucks, but is identified as the rubber piece that can be adjusted to make your deck carve more or less
Wheels - Soft or Hard wheels for different terrains that you roll on
Bearings - Quality bearings enable you to roll further with less push. (Keep them clean)
Hardware - Nuts and Bolts that hold the kingpin, wheels, and deck to your trucks
Risers - Optional pad between the trucks and deck that prevent "Wheel Bite"
~Which Foot Goes In Front~ Which foot naturally went in the front when you got on your skateboard for the first time? If you don't trust that method, put on some socks, get a running start, and slide across the hardwood floor of your house. Whichever foot you chose to put in front will determine your natural foot placement.
There are only 2 types of stances...
"Regular" (left foot forward)
"Goofy" (right foot forward)
~BECOMING COMFORTABLE WITH A BOARD~
- This video has the same introduction as the Ollie video, but it is definately not the same video -

If you need a skateboard now, you can order one of our decks too. Remember—skateboarding is not easy, but the tricks on our grip tape are the ones that every beginner attempts 1st. If you are having a hard time with a trick, don't get frustrated with yourself. By being patient and reading all that you can on this Website, you may become the next best skater!
As you approach the end of an object such as a box, lift up your front trucks just enough to allow your skateboard to stay flat while dropping down. To do this, apply a little pressure on your back tail, but make sure to land with your skateboard flat. If you want to acid drop into a bank, be sure to learn forward equally as much as the downward slope of the bank.
Just a quick taste of your future! Do not try that at home, for a looooonng while.
For the more experienced skaters who will try to Bomb Drop that huge, hold your board in your hand, getting ready to place it under your feet when you are in mid air. You want to toss the skateboard just enough to make it level with whichever surface you are dropping onto. Jump and let go of the deck about halfway to the ground. Bending your knees will help your body absorb the impact of the landing.
